PRESS: Russia eyes 4.9 tln rbl rail project in Siberia
MOSCOW, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- The Siberian Meridian railway project that will connect the ports of the Pacific and Indian oceans and points of the Northern Sea Route is preliminarily estimated at 4.93 trillion rubles, Kommersant business daily reported on Tuesday citing a source familiar with the matter.
The project encompasses creation by 2035 of a freight rail link between China and the Arctic seaports on the Northern Sea Route, bypassing the Trans-Siberian Railway, and covers large sections of Siberia and the Arctic. In particular, this implies construction of a double-track electrified railway ring Salekhard–Nadym–Urengoi–Surgut–Tyumen–Yekaterinburg–Perm–Yaroslavl–Obskaya–Salekhard.
